Yazaki, a harness and automotive part manufacturing company, will expand its operations by employing 3,300 new workers for a total of 13,700 jobs, confirmed the VP Operations Manager, Masayuki Yamaguchi.
To date, the company employs 10,400 people and according to Suamy Alegria, Human Resources Manager, Nicaragua plays an important role in the achievement of the company’s goals due to its skilled labor force and lower production costs.
"We have a great workforce. It only needs training, but it is a fact that women have great visual and manual abilities. They are very productive", stated Alegria.
Yazaki Nicaragua, previously known as Arnecom, established operations in the city of León, Nicaragua in 2001, as a technological company, diversifying the free zones sector in the country. Yazaki manufactures high quality products for original equipment manufacturers of major brands such as Ford, GM and Chrysler.
The automotive harness exports under the free zone regime increased from US$2.7 million in 2002 to US$438 million during the third quarter of 2014.
